A Writer’s Blog: Making It Happen
By J.J. Michael

August 2005
Unbelievable. I call my daughter Michelle. She asked, “Where are you?” I responded, “I’m in Border’s bookstore in Silver Spring, Md standing in front of you know what.” I ask her where she was, she responded, “I am in Border’s bookstore in Columbia, Md standing in front of you know what.” We laughed. How absurd this may look or sound to others--two grown women staring at a book on a shelf in two different Border’s. But, it was not just any book. It was my ‘dream book’ Life is Never as It Seems. I had waited a lifetime to walk into a major bookstore and see my book on a shelf. I took a picture with my phone camera. I smiled as I left the store. “Ridiculous,” you say. Not really let’s rewind to four years ago.

May 2001
I am in grief. My son had made his transition only 6 months ago. He was born with Hydrocephalus and he had finally succumbed to it. My friend of many years, Leticia Peoples, the former owner of the first black romance publishing company, Odyssey, invited me to stay at her home in Palm Coast, Florida. It was a safe haven. For two weeks I cried and I wrote. After two weeks, I had fifty pages of a fiction book and a bucket full of tears.

October 2001
Five months later, I stared at the fifty pages. I decided to try and write the middle of the story.

December 2001
I went back and read the first fifty pages. They did not fit in with the middle section of the story. I liked the middle the best. So, I decided to write the ending. I didn’t get to do it because of the holidays and family. I made a New Years Resolution to finish the book in 2002.

February-May 2002
It‘s been a year since I first started the novel. I deleted more than half of the first fifty pages. I rewrote. Rewrote. Rewrote and rewrote the first section... I was ready to throw in the towel. Doubt set in. What made me think that I could write a novel and get it published? It’s wasn’t easy. I remembered going through all the rejection letters for my first book. I finally settled on using Publishing on Demand (POD). I learned a lot about the publishing industry from self-publishing. However, for this one, I want to go the traditional route ---a literary agent, publisher, contract, published work on the self in the major bookstores. I have got to get rid of the doubt and frustration. I am the one that teaches you can create your life with your thoughts. Hey, I wrote about fulfilling your dream in my first book, Path to Truth. What happened to my dream of being a writer when I was nine years old? A book from my library fell off the shelf and almost hit me in the head. I picked it up and read the title, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, by Joseph Murphy. I opened it and these words leaped out at me: Whatever the conscious, reasoning mind of man believes, the subconscious will act upon it. When you imagine the reality of the fulfilled desire and feel the thrill of accomplishment, your subconscious brings about the realization of your desire. Ok, God I hear you. I pushed on and finished the first section.

June 2002
I combined the three sections. I had a draft! WOW. I rewrote and rewrote. I sent a copy off to the Library of Congress. I searched the Net for editing services. Found several. Not sure which one I should use. It was a toss up. I finally decided on a company in upstate New York, after I submitted a page or two to them. I liked the way the editor made the corrections and the price was right for me. In less than two weeks, chapters rolled in from the editor. I had to learn a new Microsoft Word technique which allowed for corrections to be done electronically. All I did was accept or not accept the corrections. I was more worried about what the editor thought about the book. I waited for her overview that wouldn’t come until she completed the editing process.

July 2002
The editor finished the book in less than a month. I received the overview. I was thrilled. She gave the content the highest rating of five stars.I started going through the chapters. I was not happy with the results of the editing. The editor missed too many things. I found out that the editor who did the first two pages did not do the manuscript. I called Leticia and cried. Leticia who had edited a number of her books told me to send it to her. I did. She was not happy with the editing either. She cleaned it up even more.

August 2002
I sent out query letters and the first three chapters of the book to literary agents and publishers. Rejection letters. I handled them because I had experienced with rejection letters. I visualized seeing the book in bookstores not only on the self, but people buying it. I pulled out my books and articles that told about all those famous writers whose books were rejected. I felt better. I received a letter from Genesis Press, a small publishing company in Mississippi. The acquisition editor wanted me to send her the full manuscript but she made no promises. I was told that they were interested. I passed the first scrutiny. Yeah. Visualize, see that published book on the shelf, I told myself.

November 2002
I waited to hear from Genesis. Leticia called me to tell me she read a review about a book called the Da Vinci Code, which has Mary Magdalene in it. I was upset. Why? Because my book has a subplot involving Mary. This is what happens when the universe disperses creative energy. We all get it. I searched the Washington Post and found an article on the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I must get this book. When I woke up the next morning I knew what to do. I wrote a letter to the Genesis publisher outlining my marketing program for my book and attached a copy of the Da Vinci Code article explaining that books dealing with spirituality and the supernatural were hot. I waited and waited.

January 2003
I received a call from Genesis and an email. It worked. I got the contract for the book. It’s Christmas, a time to celebrate. The real work was just beginning and I thought it had ended with the writing of the book. Little did I know? Want to find out more go to www.authorsden.com/junejmichael/blog.

Dear Readers,
Our prayers and thoughts are with the hundreds of thousands of displaced people affected by Hurricane Katrina. In the January 2005 Path2truth.com ezine I wrote, “What can we expect for 2005? Humanity will face the test of using free will to choose faith or fear. Individual as well as collective challenges will present themselves for us to make choices that either keep us attached to the old vibratory rate of strife and fear or lift up our consciousness to truth and light. Gateways and portals will open giving access to the light library of truth that will destroy previously held negative and fear conscious beliefs. The old order will not leave quietly. There will be chaos to cause doubt and confusion among the masses.” Our challenge is to change the way we think in order to experience hope instead of despair, power instead of powerlessness, faith instead of fear and love instead of discord. Light Shift 2000 by Ken Klab is based on the premise that if just one tenth of one percent of humanity were focused together in transcendental consciousness, it would create the pilot light to ignite the divinity in all humanity. Won’t you be a beacon of light today?

In Light and love,

Something was calling me….
By Sharyn Leigh

About five months ago I felt divinely guided to move to Sedona Arizona. I put my house in upstate New York on the market, packed as much as I could in my car and headed west. I had no furniture and no place to live. I just had faith that all would be well. I found a great house to rent with gorgeous red rock views, and great bargains in southwest furniture, a design I have always loved. Everything began manifesting right before my eyes. It’s been said that Sedona is actually in the fifth dimension. I can say that I could never have imagined such wonder. I am offering the ‘Sedona List’ for your surprise and delight.

THE SEDONA LIST

And finally….
You know you’re living in Sedona when you hear the sweet sounds of drumming echoing through the canyons during full moon, new moon and eclipse cycles.

Changing the World... One Book at a Time
Bestselling Spiritual Messengers Share Secrets
From the Books That Changed Their Lives

By Arielle Ford

Ever read a book that’s changed your life? Most of the today’s most beloved authors and spiritual teachers can recall a book that started them on the journey toward spirituality and success.

In fact, that question has become the foundation for a new book club called the Transformational Book Circle (TBC), created by bestselling author and relationship expert Gay Hendricks.

Hendricks says the inspiration came from a gathering at the home of Chicken Soup for the Soul author Jack Canfield’s one evening when there happened to be many transformational leaders gathered. “The subject of books that changed your life came up and everyone had one,” recalls Hendricks. “Their eyes would light up as they recounted the wisdom from these books and began to relive the story about how these books changed their lives. It was fascinating, especially since a number of the people there were authors who had also written bestselling books that have changed the lives of millions.”

Just thinking about the powerful transformation that books had brought to the lives of so many of the people in the forefront of spirituality today, Hendricks was reminded of the great power that is passed from generation to generation in books that are sometimes forgotten over time. He was curious to know more about how books of the past had inspired the people who inspired millions today.

So Hendricks set out to ask Jack Canfield, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Louise Hay, Doreen Virtue, Barbara DeAngelis, Kenny Loggins, Debbie Ford, Bill Harris, and many other transformational and spiritual leaders this question: “Which book changed your life?” And the answers surprised him.

“Every person I asked told me a remarkable story about how one or more books had opened the gateway to a new dimension. Nearly all of these books were virtually unheard of and many were hard to find,” explains Hendricks.

What began as a curious conversation evolved into the Transformational Book Circle, designed to be the world’s first transformational reading community with books devoted to creating powerful changes in our lives. Hendricks asked many to suggest a book that the Transformational Book Circle could republish each month, along with additional inspirational material to further illuminate the lessons of the book. Says Hendricks. “Our goal is to build a community of people around the world who are reading the same book at the same time. This is a potent way to create change.”

The bestselling authors participating in this project are people who have devoted their lives to assisting others in transformation, so they are delighted to pass on the wisdom of the ones who came before them.

Louise Hay, author of many bestselling books and founder of Hay House Publishing, attributes the genesis of her success and evolution to a book that changed the way she views life. “Many years ago I read a book by an author who opened my eyes, and my heart,” recounts Hay. “I believe that her book helped make me who I am. Her work is obscure, not easy to find these days, but her message is just as powerful today as it was many years ago. As someone who has great respect for the power of the written word, it is a thrill to see her work come to life again through the Transformational Book Club.”

The book that changed her life, ultimately, contributed to helping her change millions of lives... and will continue to do so. Same is true for Neale Donald Walsh.

Millions of people have read his Conversations with God series, yet Walsh credits a certain other book for preparing him to receive the messages he has shared with so many. The Transformational Book Circle offers its members an exclusive edition of The Power of a Single Thought, available only to its members.

“Some authors more than others inspire us to honor the true voice within,” says Walsh, the modern messenger who helped shape the way we commune with Divine Source. “Some authors open us up and clear us of doubt while filling us with hope. I was blessed to read a book that helped prepare me to receive insight and empowered me to share it.”

Walsh is happy to share the book that helped shape his own life’s work with his faithful readers, and newcomers, through the Transformational Book Circle. And so is Kenny Loggins. As one of the most successful singer/songwriters in the world, his powerful, soul-stirring songs such as “This Is It,” have changed many lives. “Music is a universal language, yet sharing the message of a special book is a powerful way to unite people and create change in ourselves and our world.”

The Transformational Book Circle couldn’t come at a better time. In a world beset with so many challenges, inspiration is a welcome friend to members who join the circle. Each month they receive one life-changing book along with a CD that features exercises to bring the book’s material to life, spoken by the famous author who recommended it. Members will also have access to a web-seminar with the transformational luminaries, learning from them how their lives were changed and improved by the book. Most importantly, everyone who is part of this circle becomes part of a growing community seeking and devoted to transformation. (To find out more, please visit www.transformationalbookcircle.com)

Sapphire
By Jim Heinen

Root Stone Sapphire

Sapphire has been called the stone of truth, wisdom and dedication that brings lightness of heart and mind, joy and prosperity.

Sapphire is a beautiful blue gemstone that is associated with the heart, throat and third eye chakras. It helps bring joy to the heart, ease the sour throat, and relieve headaches. These maladies can be removed by placing the Sapphire directly on or near the spot that is affected. Wearing a sapphire pendant on a short chain places it on the throat charka. Wearing a sapphire ring puts the healing power in the hand, which is part of the heart charka system. Wearing sapphire earrings places the healing power near the 6th chakra to remove the headache. While the stone is absorbing the negativity, it is broadcasting soothing vibrations to the affected area. Sapphire can be used to rectify cellular disorders and heal blood diseases. The corresponding astrological sign is Virgo.

Sapphire works to enhance the mind. It brings the power of wisdom to the thought process. It helps by removing our mental garbage and unwanted thoughts. With this purity of thought and new focus, one is able to easily find solutions to the situations at hand. Sapphire gives the user the ability to discern the truth from fiction. It encourages dreaming while it discourages nightmares. Sapphire can be used to repel negative energy*.

Sapphire also is helpful with the emotions. As it clears our thought process, sorting fiction from truth, it is considered to be an antidepressant. Sapphire enhances love, peace and amiability for the user. It brings new love and commitment while encouraging faithfulness and loyalty.

We have several samples of root stone Sapphire for sale in the $20 to $48 range.
